There's a famous photo of a Nazi preparing to shoot a baby in the head while it's being held by another Nazi. Had that image been able and be broadcast to the masses within seconds, I find it hard to believe history would have played out the same.

It's easy for people to dismiss the stories of suffering that they can't bare witness to. That's why we need to show the violent photos and videos; that's why we must spread that media far and wide.

Either our "free country" will have to become desensitized to the violence, or they'll actively work for real change.

Early in my transition I told my mom that I didn't believe I'd live a full life. And this is exactly why. I accepted that consequence when I decided to live as my true self, and I don't regret that.

My concern now is for the youth. The suicide rates will climb, and their deaths will be used to push a false narrative against the success of transition. And naturally the narrative will leave out the part about how their lives were made so untenable that death was a more appealing option than life.

At the end of the day, our existence is the best resistance. I will not change nor deny who I am to appease fascists. But I hold no ill will for those who go stealth.
