The greatest trick the GOP ever pulled was convincing people that trans people are ubiquitous and that their mere existence is an existential threat to your own.

As you say, trans people negativity impacting women sports (notice how they don't care about men's sports) is literally an "edge case."

The public reacts to trans women and girls as if they've taken all the podiums and scholarships from cisgender women and girls in every competition. But ask any GOP politician to name a single trans athlete who has done this and all you'll hear are crickets.

The GOP has once again done what they do best... Convince the masses to fear something that presents no danger whatsoever. It's pathetic, but it makes perfect sense when you want to pass harmful legislation that you don't want John Queen Public to pay attention to. Distraction is the name of the game, and trans people are the innocent people being victimized at the expense of that distraction.
