I felt like I had to jump through a million hoops to get my GRS pushed through my insurance, and at times I did consider doing it myself. I’m not even remotely close to being a cutter, so actually opening myself up would have never happened. I also knew that people who do this end up with esthetic issues when they actually get GRS. Still, this is an amazing and necessary story. So many in the trans community want this and yet they are consistently ignored or shut down by the medical establishment. Thankfully things are a little easier these days. I can’t imagine what course transition would have taken just 15-20 years ago. Brave, courageous, and strong as hell don’t even come close to an accurate descriptor of this beautiful soul.
