I cringe when I hear that word but also “Transgenders,” and many in more middle eastern locals choose to refer to the community as. It inherently causes Transgender individuals to be reduced to something devoid of sentience or soul. These words only exist to dehumanize those in the community.

As you said, when one misspeaks, it’s best to admit your shortsightedness than to double down on your own ignorance. I’ve been put in my place a few times since I came out, and I am always fearful of upsetting my peers.

So I stick with what I know; the things that effect me personally.

And yes being referred to as Transgendered is beyond insulting.
